So Dead of Night has been out for a little over a month now, and thoughts have turned to the inevitable question: what next? Of course there are countless other games on the go, including a couple that will surface sooner rather than later, but that’s not really what’s being asked. It’s what’s next for Dead of Night.

Well, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought of it, as I have. Quite a bit. In the final stages of Dead of Night’s writing, both James and Scott suggested the same idea, which I’d also been mulling over – a book of scenarios.

So that’s what we’re working on. Not terribly rapidly, and probably not terribly soon, but working on in a loose sense all the same. The book has no name, but it does have a sketched-out premise: maybe half a dozen scenarios, a couple of new genre discussions and a more detailed look at running a Dead of Night campaign, be that as a series of sequels or a TV series format.

Hopefully, if I can coax James into it, I’ll get him to expand on the playtest he’s just kicked off for the latter of those ideas: a Dead of Night series.

Any requests for scenarios or genres, or even suggestions for titles, on a postcard please.
